Impression Techniques
No tooth preparation is necessary when prescribing a tcs® Nightguard. The unique characteristics of tcs® Nightguards utilize all undercuts for retention. The laboratory requires only a model and a counter-model.

- There is no special impression material required; anything from alginate to polyvinyl may be used.
- Take a counter-model.
- Examine the impression, if it is not perfect, retake impression.

- If using alginate, it is highly recommended to pour up within 30 minutes after taking impression. When using light-weight polyvinyl you can pour up within 24 hrs. A regular yellow stone can be used to pour up the impression.
- Ensure that your laboratory uses tcs® Nightguard material.
Insertion Techniques

- To ensure that you are receiving a genuine tcs® Nightguard appliance, be sure your appliance is received in a tcs® branded plastic bag along with a tcs® Nightguard Patient Care Instructions.
- Prior to insertion simply submerge the tcs® Nightguard in hot water for approximately 30 seconds to one minute, the nightguard will become pliable and soft. (NOTE: the hotter the water, the more pliable the nightguard becomes).
- When the nightguard cools to a tolerable temperature, gently insert it into the patients’ mouth and have the patient bite down gently for approximately 15 seconds.
Adjustment Techniques
Interproximal adjustments are usually not necessary. However if adjustments are needed a standard carbide bur that is used on acrylic can be used.

If occlusion is high, simply use articulating paper to locate the area and grind the area with a carbide bur. Repeat until nightguard is in occlusion.
